Protecting and enhancing forest ecosystem services by practicing new nature supporting and income generating activities.
Objective: to enhance forest ecosystem services by strengthening the protection and management of community conserved areas in combination with new nature supportive and income-generating activities.
Implementation
1. Developing community gardens with black currant and sea buckthorn fruit trees.
2. Growing some rare and medicinal herbs in greenhouses.
3. Raising seedlings for reforestation and afforestation purposes inside the CCAs.
4. Practicing to grow some agro-biodiversity plants.
5. Preparing for eco-touirsm development.
6. Enhancing access control to the CCAs.
7. More collectively managing the four CCAs, wiht cooperation coordinated.
8. Laying foundations to produce non-traditional biodiversity products.
Benefits and Impacts:
1. Protection and management of CCAs coordinated and enhanced.
2. Four community fruit gardens have been established to be non-traditional additional income sources.
3. Rare and medicinal herbs, seedlings and some other agro-biodiversity plants raised by the community serve as significant income generating means to improve livelihoods.
4. Two communities successfully demonstrate that eco-touirsm can be dealt by them.
5. CCAs are now more controlled by communities.
6. Community performances improved and capacity strengthened.
