Development and scaling out of the Maasai Stoves and solar Project
Development and scaling out of the Maasai Stoves and solar Project
Context:

Most Maasai homes are among un-healthiest living spaces on the planet. They have neither windows nor vents in the roof. The women cook for up to five hours per day indoors with an open fire. Smoke fills the houses, which are sooty and dirty. As a result, women and children suffer from indoor pollution. The Maasai Stoves and Solar Project designs and installs clean-burning and efficient wood burning stoves and solar-panel based electrical systems in the homes of the people.

About the NGO

The Maasai Stoves and Solar Project operates under the umbrella of the International collaborative for Science, Education and the Environment, Tanzania. It was incorporated in Tanzania in August 2010 as a non-profit and non-government organization. Its sole purpose is to improve Maasai homes by supporting the Maasai to install clean-burning and efficient wood burning stoves with the view to promoting mitigation of climate change through reduction of carbon emissions and adaptation through wider adoption of stoves that burns less biomass

Project?s Primary Objective:

To promote mitigation and adaptation through wider adoption of cook stoves that burns less biomass and solar energy for lighting.
