Reduce Deforestation through Community Involvement by Insolated Metallic Stoves
Reduce Deforestation through Community Involvement by Insolated Metallic Stoves
The proposed intervention will be supportive to reforestation and decrease environment degradation in the area.

Primary Objectives:
The over all objective of the project is to reduce loss of tree/vegetation cover and
pollution through the use of improved technologies that is use of Shahbaz Stoves.. Moreover the project also aims to provide expertise of making alongwith the provision of this product.

Specific results:
? A number of 300 families using energy efficient stove technology in the targeted area.
? Great number of residents will have the knowledge about Energy Efficiency and Environmental Solutions through our campaigns.
? A number of local artisans trained on for making energy efficient stoves

Methodology Outline:
A preliminary assessment of the site is to be done to provide an overview of the general implications of the proposed project on the environment. The assessment involved the following steps;
? Screening of the project
? Review of the proposed project design,
Project activities will cover the following areas:
i) Public awareness campaigns about environmental challenges and solutions
in order to reduce sicknesses related to indoor air pollution and improve the livelihoods of the communities.

ii) Provide Expertise about Energy Efficiency:
The ?Design Introduction?, Making, processing and provision of the product: Energy Efficient Stoves called ?Shabaz Stoves?

Rationale:
Extensive destruction of forests has led to the loss of forest cover and the subsequent destruction of water catchment areas. Loss of tree cover has significantly reduced the vegetation cover which act as natural sinks for carbon dioxide. In addition, it has resulted in increased occurrence of floods, soil erosion and drought in District Thatta, Over 60% of the fuel used in District Thatta is wood-based, resulting in the high rate of destruction of forests. The ?Shahbaz Stoves? will reduce the use of firewood at a household level. In addition, communities will be assisted to adopt renewable energy technologies, like Energy Efficient Stoves: Shahbaz Stoves

The project contributes to the sustainable development to the local communities in a number of ways:

i. Environmental
? It will help significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions over its lifetime
? The project will help reduce the use of non-renewable biomass from forests, assisting the maintenance of existing forest stock, protecting natural forest eco-systems and wildlife habitats

Following are major activities which will be conducted in proposed area for the better environment.

Description of Project Activities:

Project Inception:
Before the onset of project activities it will be important to inform the local authorities
about the project. This will involve visits and meetings with relevant government
authorities at District & UC levels.
In addition to these introductory meetings, there will be stakeholders inception workshop
aimed at discussing the project implementation process and expected roles of each
stakeholder.

Orientation of Project Implementation
All the people to be involved in the project implementation need to be well informed
about the objectives and implementation of project activities. Thus a workshop
will be held to orientate the implementation on the same.
Anticipated Results; The social and environmental impacts of improved cooking stoves are indisputable. They reduce workloads involved in fuel collection, and by reducing indoor air pollution, they can reduce the risk of respiratory diseases, especially for women and children. Improved cooking stoves also contribute to environmental protection by reducing biomass consumption and hence greenhouse gas emissions, mainly CO2, when the combusted biomass originates from non-renewable stocks.
