Integrated conservation of environment through promotion of energy saving technology and sustainable livelihood Project
The proposed project area lies in two VDCs namely Patle and Khijifalate VDC of Okhaldhunga district. There are total 748 households and 4035 population with literacy rate only 30 %in Patle VDC and 730hhs and 4023 population with rate only 47.8%in Khijifalate VDC. (CBS 2010 projection) The project VDCs are situated at an altitude ranging from 2000m to 2500m. The VDCs are blessed with natural beauty as beautiful panorama of Himalayas can be enjoyed. The forest area covered 25% of total area of VDC having upper temperate forest of juniper and pines. However, due to increase in population the forest area has been decreasing day by day. The species like Loath Salla, which was once found in abundance, is now hardly found in the area. Likewise, women members have to walk longer distance to collect firewood.
In order to reduce the firewood consumption, the project aimed to install 600 Matribhumi improved cooking stove (M-ICS) and promote sustainable livelihood.
