Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
320 ha land in the village Jokolo, 220 households (1,060 people, among them 653 women), also the roads, water pipeline and electricity distribution lines ? protected from the following hazards: flooding of the river Alazani, flash floods, mudflows and riverbank erosions. Correspondingly, the sustainable livelihoods are increased by 55%.
Policy Impact
Activities under the project are agreed with the local government and they will be actively involved in the activities during the implementation as well. Proposals of the population will be considered at the meetings of the local government, and if necessary, will be sent to the central legislative bodies for review. The project is supporting tighter linkage between the government and the local population.
