The development of Education-Based Tourism and Strengthening Local Economic Potential in Border Community
GGOAL
Make Small island in Batam as a center of educational tours based on local potential which can improve the local economy as a model of resource management in the border region, which in turn can realize sustainable use of natural resources.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Preparing Community in Managing Area and educational ecotourism
Indicators : 1. Minimum 6 (six) times discussion among community inhabited Island
2. There are 3 (three) protected area that is tightly protected area of mangrove islands, Lingdung sea grass region on the island of Lombok, and the protected area of coral reefs in the waters of the island of Layang agreed and approved by the government (and the Village Office / agencies)
Activities : 1. Discussions between island communities in preparing community and establishment of protected forest
a. Socialization Programme, Consultancy, and Community coordination in area location
b. Raising the level of local support (to the community leaders, village and sub-district levels of government) for synchronization and space program management.
c. Community meeting to discuss the aspects of resource management (utilization, control and protection)
2. Determination and dissemination of protected areas Mangrove ecosystems, coral reefs and sea grass.
Objective 2 : Developing Lombok Islan as a center of education ecotourism as alternative income to community
Indicators : 1. There are any detail development education ecotourism
2. There are minimum 4 (four) cottage, 1 (one ) hall and there are any supporting facilities (Toilet, hygiene water) as facilities and infrastructure for educational ecotourism
3. Lombok Island has ready to be a center of ecotourism destination
4. Any 3 (three) school group has visited Lombok Island
5. Any 3 (three) Moduls adn conservation education package
6. Any corporation with any stakeholder (Goverment, Private sector, University, School and School Group)
Activities : 1. Preparation of a detailed implementation plan and implementation arrangements Lombok Island Lombok detailed plan of arrangement
2. Provision of basic facilities and infrastructure so that activities can be run educational tours .
3. Manufacture and package modules conservation education .
4. Alternative economic activities that support tourism activities based on local potential
a. Government and Companies : Help improve the facilities of educational tours .
b. Island Office (KP2K) and Tecnical Unit (UPT
c. Higher Education : Inventory of biodiversity ( species, habitat , economic and ecological benefits, images, local and scientific names, etc. ) which will be used as educational materials (a collection of well preserved specimens of animals and plants ) .
d. Junior high school level, high school and college
Objective 3 : Make an habitat restoration and conservation for community and educated young generation
Indicators : 1. There is a habitat restoration activities through transplantation (table 15 concrete block units and 1,000 cuttings of coral)
2. There are at least 60 people trained in transplantation 2 times in training (30 students and 30 students)
Activities 1. Reef restoration through transplantation
2. Coral transplantation training for young people and educated (public, school and college students)
Objective 4 : Evaluation and Planning Develompment
Indicators : 1. There is any evaluation in the end of project adn recomendation for future develompment
Activities 1. Village Meeting
2. Activity Reporting and Documentation
EXPECTED OUTPUT
1. The existence of protected areas coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass as well as rules on the management and utilization of the public agreed.
2. The existence of monitoring mechanisms (surveillance systems) and the settlement of the case.
3. The availability of adequate infrastructure to support the activities of educational tours
4. The existence of marine parks (Cultured coral) and a mangrove park as supporting activities educational tours.
5. Nest Island people trained in the management of educational tours.
6. Activity goes active educational tours (continued) which can become a new economic base for the community.
