Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
As of today, close to 100 women are employed in eco-tourism services of Tusheti. The majority of these women, as managers of households, are associated with guesthouse services. Increased number of visitors to protected areas will ensure further income-generation opportunities. Traditional crafts mastered by local women such as felt making and knitting are also to benefit from an increased interest in the area, providing diversified income sources and tools of empowerment of local women.
Replication of project activities
Lessons learned of the project was shared with APA, other municipalities, CBOs operating on sites of other protected areas, as a result interested in implementing the similar platforms for wildlife watching, monitoring and observation has been created within the agency
