Naren wetland is key habitats for migratory birds, especially for Black-necked Crane?Grus nigricollis), which is the first class national protected animal. It is the breeding ground for Black-necked Crane in summer and wintering ground for whooper swan(Cygnus cygnus). Aside from these birds, it is the home for many first class national protected animas such as Ciconia nigra, Procapra przewalskii and second class national protected animals such as Antropoides virgo, Otus insularis, Egretta garzetta, Alaudidae and Anser indicus.

The project will involve the local communities to protect the wetland and reduce human disturbance to the habitat of black-necked crane and other birds.
