Rural Women Initiatives for Better Environment
Princess Basma Development Center-Aqaba aims to work with Rural Women in poor local communities in South of Jordan, an area classified as ?poverty Pockets? to improve social and natural environment to empower women leaders to take action for better environment and improved livelihood. The NGO uses models developed by SGP projects in South of Jordan to hold ?Knowledge Fairs? and produce best practices to be replicated by women in the target communities.

Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
25 local ladies were trained on understanding and investing resources available in their community to propose solutions that contribute in solving problems that threats their community environmentally and in improving livelihood.
Capacity - Building Component
A capacity building training on Advocacy was conducted for the 20 local ladies of project members on 5 days defining the five top environmental priorities and adopt one to work on. On the second training, the project committee ladies were trained on photography skills on 4 days in order to better represent their environmentally local threats and problems. Third training ?Active citizenship & sustainable use of natural resources? included training those ladies for 5 days on how to write their own initiatives.
