Local Community Management of Water and Environmental Resources
This project aims to undertake measures and enhance practices to improve water and land management for attaining better sustainability and reduce land degradation through improving irrigation methods in addition to promoting water conservation and rain water harvesting at the household and farm level.
Eara village (project location) located in Salt city is an agricultural land which faces the lack of water resources and drought during summer. Therefore, the implementing CBO and through this project will take the necessary measures to deal with this threat by the installation and rehabilitation of rainwater harvesting cisterns on the household level in order to attain the proper water needed, conducting a full integrated awareness program which will target the local community in general including housewife?s and the village schools? students in particular on the rationalization of water consumption. Thus will contribute not only in providing and sustaining the needed water for the irrigation and agricultural practices, but will also raise the overall productivity, improve food security and emphases on sustainable livelihood by saving the money paid for the water purchasing.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Enable the Assembly financially to continue the implementation of the revolving loan programs in order to implement water harvesting cisterns.
Notable Community Participation
Local community participation is through the project committee who's be in charge of the awareness program and setting the criteria and define winners of the best environmental practices competition.
10 families benefited from the rainwater harvesting cisterns, 5 benefited from sheep breeding and 1 from solar heaters installation so far (updated on 31/8/2014);
And it?s worth mentioning that both local community and schools are targeted in the environmental competition.
12 families benefited from project implementation and total number of local individuals benefited from/ participated in the SGP project is families; 60 men and 37 women.
