Environmental training and capacity building project for Civil Society Organisations in The Gambia.
The overall aim of this project is to enhance the capacities of the affected communities and civil society organizations to raise the level of awareness on the various UN Environmental Conventions and associated Frameworks and acquire the necessary skills to enable them develop relevant project proposals and implement their projects successfully in order to contribute to the attainment of the global environmental objectives, poverty reduction and local empowerment within twelve months. The more specific objectives of the project include, amongst others, the following:
? To undertake a knowledge and capacity needs assessment of the participating local CSOs to provide baseline data on the level of knowledge and gaps on participatory environmental planning capabilities and needs;
? To develop an appropriate environmental planning training manual for operationalization for use over the twelve month duration of the training;
? To conduct 2 environmental awareness raising on a wide range on issues related to climate change mitigation, environmental degradation as well as land degradation, amongst others for community members, local CSO staff and stakeholders.
