Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
8 local metal workers were trained on he production of the energy efficient cooking stoves to the local market. At the end of the sensitization on the stoves, there was a surge in demand for the stoves by the local population and this would make the project self sustaining in itself.
A microfinance scheme was introduced; funds would be given with minimal interest to keep it running and part of the interest will be use to facilitate the work of community facilitators/field staff.
Capacity - Building Component
A number of local metal workers were trained on the technique of making energy efficient stoves, thus impacting on them lifelong skills.
As a result of training received, the beneficiaries now have improved knowledge and capacity on basic book keeping and business management skills.
The sensitization workshops have enhanced understanding on the effects of climate change and engaged many of the beneficiaries in local mitigation issues and best practices.
