Promoting alternative energy sources, gender - sensitive enterprises - check & reduce emissions
The goal of the project is to promote climate friendly farming practices and livelihood enhancement opportunities through community initiative in order to (a) facilitate the generation of renewable energy at the farm -household and community levels (b)increase carbon sequestration and storage in plants and soils,(c) strengthen agro-biodiversity ,(d) augment income and employment at the farm-household and community levels through gender sensitive enterprises,(e) improve the skill and knowledge of the local community through capacity building /appropriate training modules.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
150 rural youth, both men and women belonging to 15 SHGs will be trained to function as local leaders in propagating the mitigation and adapting strategies.
Gender Focus
50 farm- households with 250 members will be benefitted by installing bio gas units through community participation to serve as alternative energy source in household application. A multi storey cropping system will be developed to assimilate and hold carbon from the atmosphere and enrich soil organic matter beneficial for 100 farm- households with 500 members. 15 SHGs (Self help group) will be formed for establishing micro- enterprises for regular income and employment.
