As all the Mediterranean countries, Albania has abundant sunshine as well as precipitation, although the precipitation is unevenly distributed over the seasons. This climate is very suitable for the use of solar technologies as well as rain collection. When combined, these technologies have a great potential for reducing the environmental footprint of human activities as well as reducing the cost of living.
The project will demonstrate a combination of these technologies in an ?environmental house? that is used as an education center for schools during their visits in the Tirana Zoo. The house will be equipped with a PV system as well as a rain collection system for use as sanitary water.
The SGP activities and funds will be matched by an awareness campaign on energy efficiency financed by REC.
