Supporting community in Tanakeke : Rehabilitation of mangroves and developing Eco-tourism on the island of Tanakeke
GOAL
Creating alternative economic activities in order to provide an opportunity for young fisherman and women working together in sustainable livelihoods.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Develop a sustainable source of income for women.
Indicators : 1. Number of trees planted per year, 12,800 seedlings per year Target
2. 10,000 students registered in the language game web in the first year
3. Increased revenues of 60-100 women by increasing the amount of mangrove crabs per hectare to be processed and sold to income per person Rp. 10,000/day
Activities : 1. Creating & Website Promotion
Sustainable income for the trees is derived from www.freetrees.co.id site. A website with language games (Bahasa Indonesia - English) where visitors can play language games, a promotional banner ad, as well as the promotion of Tanakeke guesthouse and eco-tourism destination to the web visitors.
AIESEC will go to 100 schools and attract the attention of students to become members of the website to increase the number of visitors on the Freetrees website. Visitors will sign up to become a member first in order to play the game of language to achieve a number of points "tree points" which is used as a mangrove tree planting fund.
The more visitors to the website will increase the revenue from banner ads that will be allocated to fund mangrove expert guidance that will guide the local communities in mangrove planting and preservation

Through the mangrove planting, the community also has the potential to increase their revenue by an increasing number of mud crabs per hectare for sale. Currently they already have a crab chips products are sold in several places around the Tanakeke area. However, they faced difficulties in marketing. With the planting of mangroves is expected quantity of mud crabs can increased, and we will also teach them how to manage their products in order to be sold to the wider community with a higher selling value.

From discussion in April 2013 we understand that an alternative business of a group of women on the island at this time is not sufficient to bring the income per person of more than Rp 10,000 per week and not enough creating Tanakeke tourism area which is in line with the strategy of Takalar district government, South Sulawesi, to make a formal Tanakeke island eco-tourism destination.
Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen alternative business through training, guidance and motivation to the people to create a tourism area by building Tanakeke inn which will provide Rp 130,000 per day per person. AIESEC foreign volunteers will be sent to the island Tanakeke to provide guidance and learning to the community as one of the Tanakeke community development process, as the project aims to improve the people's economy and promote Tanakeke ecotourism as a place with activity: creating & web promotion, mangrove planting, and Tanakeke community development through business creation education
Objective 3 : Obtain information regarding the administration and implementation of technical activities in place to prevent the occurrence of irregularities and inefficiency of the project and assess the performance of each of the parties involved to the target or indicator specified.
Indicators : 1. Creation of centrallized control system by the visit as many as 3 times per yar
2. Measurability of performance by the implementation of the evaluation meetings 2 times which done per 6 months
3. Availability of documentation which the development activities, performance, output, and the success of the activities can be determined easily by providing activity reports once per year.
Activities : 1. Field Visits as Supervision
It is necessary to takes the headquarter team to visit AIESEC team in Makassar and Tanakeke to conduct oversight and guidance for the team to stay on track for implementing action plans that have been made. At the same time, mangrove experts who assisted by the team of AIESEC Universitas Hasanuddin will also do regular visits every week to Tanakeke. In each visit will be documented so the output of each visit will be clear and can be followed up easily
2. Evaluation Meetings
To determine the performance and find the strong and weak points of each activities that have been run, then it is required some evaluation meetings attended by all the implementers. And each evaluation meeting will be documented that the output of each evaluation will be clear and can be followed up easily
3. Documentation and Report
Report is a tool to deliver information from one party to the other parties involved which is needed as a form of documentation and accountability for activities that have been carried out. From existing reports, all parties can see the level of success of these activities and also explain each process as well as the bottleneck. And this report will be the basis or the substance for the next implementation, in making policy or decisions in carrying out the next activities.
