Local Crops Conservation in Community-based Forestry Area to Support Community-based Food System
GOAL : Improving community?s food security based on local resources
OBJECTIVE 1 : Increasing the availability of local food resources
INDICATOR :
1. Five types of local food crops, which are: Sword Bean, Jack Bean, Benguk Bean (Koro Benguk), Uwi Ungu (purple sweet potato) and Gembili (a local tuber) are cultivated by farmers for producing food, preventing erosion and improving soil quality.
2. As many as 172 farmers produce organic fertilizer from materials that are available in their neighborhood.
ACTIVITIES :
1. Cultivation of Beans (koro)
2. Development of Uwi Ungu and Gembili.
3. Supporting the production of organic fertilizer.
4. Technical Assistance through Field School of Integrated Crop Management (SLPTT) approach.
5. Technical Assistance for processing food crops

OBJECTIVE 2 : Increasing support from Kulonprogo Regency Government for improvement program of community food system.
INDICATOR :
Development of local food commodity, which are beans, Uwi ungu and gembili at Sidoharjo village, scheduled in the planning program of Bappeda Kulonprogo district.
ACTIVITIES :
1. Multi Parties Workshop
2. Lobbying and Local Food Campaign

OBJECTIVE 3 : Increasing community capacity to organize themselves and to work together to improve their food system base on local food resources.
INDICATOR :
1. The formation of 5 Farmers Groups in 5 Hamlets that each have structures for roles division, rules of game and work mechanisms
2. The functioning of Farmers Group as a medium of learning, coordination and evaluation of resource management activities to improve food systems of the members.
Activities :
1. Orientation Workshop and dissemination of the formation of farmers groups
2. Routine Focus Group Discusión (FGD) in each farmer groups
