Limestone Mountain Critical Land Integrated Management as a Media for Life Skill Education for Small Farmers & Farm Workers in Pacitan District
GOAL :
Maximizing the development of integrated land management model in karst mountains & grounding the model to the values of local wisdom that can be used as media of advocacy & life skills education for young farmers.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 :
Repair of Water Reservoir
Indicators :
1. The reservoir can collect rain water & waste water coming from household that has been processed with biological treatment as much as 90 m3 volume.
2. The reservoir can serve as a trap mud (eroded material) during the rainy season & it can serve as a rain-fed aquaculture (aquaculture).
3. The reservoir can be used as education media, especially about the conservation of soil & water & it can meet the need of water for crop irrigation during dry season.

1. Repair of rainwater reservoir (a mean to support irrigation)
Objective 2
Re-cultivating native plants into Mataraman system
Indicators
1. The presence of local plants that have been identified are re-adapted & developed into Mataraman agricultural systems on an area of at least 17,000 square meters.
2. The entire plants being cultivated are properly maintained & achieve a success rate of at least 85%.
3. The whole cultivated plants are able to provide significant economic benefits (at least 75% of the business analysis target).
4. The implementation of this measurement can be used as a media of policy advocacy & learning for karst community.
5. The presence of seed banks of plants (pepper, ginger, kapulogo) that can be accessed by farmers who have interest to cultivate them in karst region.

Objective 3 :
Chicken (free-range/native) farming as a source of organic fertilizer
Indicators
1. A total of 150 female parents stock & 5 of male parents stock with batery cage systems. Each month can produce as much as 200 kgs of organic fertilizers.
2.Chicken being raised are 100% properly maintained & can lay eggs with production rate of 75%.
3.As many as 10% of the eggs produced can be hatched (seed stock).
4.In the end of year I, chicken population being raised could increase at least 5-fold.

Objective 4
Developing life skills education program, demonstration plot & assistance for farmers in managing karst region (economic empowerment)
Indicators
1. In the first year of the ongoing program, agricultural technology training of karst community will be held twice, each training is attended by 30 participants (60 participants in total)
2. The implementation of assistance carried out by alumni of agricultural technology training of karst community,
3. At least 50 people who participated in the training are willing to develop demonstration plot (demoplot) of Mataraman agricultural pattern in their respective fields,
4. Demoplot developed by alumni of the training has a success rate of 85% & can be used as pilot in each corresponding neighborhood.
5. The implementation of workshops on consolidation of Mataraman agricultural culture, participated by 50 people,
6. The implementation of one-time training activities for trainers attended by 15 participants,
7. At least 10 participants are able to be trainers of Mataraman agricultural pattern,
8. Presence of statements & policy from the local government represented by the Regent to encourage the development of traditional agricultural systems of karst community in Pacitan Regency

Indicators
1.The presence of documentation of all activities? process both printed & movies that can be used as reference material.
2.The presence of systematically arranged monitoring & evaluation record on the implementation of the systems & technology of karst community that can be used as a reference for farmers in karst region.
3.The presence of final report of the activities that can be used as a reference in the development of traditional agricultural system of karst community
4.There is a documentary movie on development process of traditional agricultural system of karst community
Activities :

3. The drafting of progress reports & final reports

EXPECTED RESULTS
1. The presence of a rainwater reservoir & trap mud that serves as means to support irrigation systems of karst agriculture as well as a media for rainfed fish farming (aquaculture).
2. The presence of local crop cultivation that is adaptive to karst ecosystem
3. The presence of free ranged chicken farming business integrated with karst agricultural systems,
4. The presence of life skills education training in managing area of limestone mountains
5. The presence of assistance & economic empowerment for the community in karst region,
6. The presence of pepper, ginger & kapulogo seedlings that can be accessed by community to be cultivated in each land as a demoplot of traditional agricultural system of karst community,
7. The presence of documentation of all activities? process both printed & movies that can be used as reference material,
8. The presence of in-favored statement from local policy makers in the development of sustainable karst agricultural systems.
