Biodiversity conservation through assisted naturel forest regeneration in Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda
The main objective of this project is the restoration of the original forest in areas colonized by bracken ferns in Nyungwe National Park following the fires of 1997. To achieve this objective, a number of actions must be taken including facilitating natural forest regeneration by physically removing the ferns and mitigating further forest fires in Nyungwe National Park through community awareness raising.
Specific objectives and activities include:

Objective 1. Facilitate natural forest regeneration in previous burned areas in Nyungwe National Park by
a) Physically removing bracken fern in areas colonized by ferns in Nyungwe National Park
b) Training local community in techniques of ferns removal

Objective 2. Mitigate threat of anthropogenic fires in Nyungwe NP through awareness campaigns in villages around NNP.
