The project aims at promoting use of non-motorized transport in Krasnodon district of Lugansk region. The demonstration activities will take place in small towns and villages, which is characterized by high level of pollution not only from the local industries, but also from transport. Lugansk region is one of the most pressing on environment in Ukraine. The main sources of environmental pollutions in the region are chemical, coal, machine building, oil industries and transport. The remote areas are characterized by very low awareness, participatory and problem solving capacities by the local people themselves. The significant transport pollutions in Krasnodon district can be reduced through the proposed project implementation, which includes baseline situation analyses and planning the development of transport infrastructure with public participation, measuring the bicycle routs, promoting use of bicycles by the local population, assessment and forecast of emissions reductions.
