Construção e Reparação de Pequenos Diques de Protecção de Solos, Fixação de Plantas Fruteiras
This project proposal was drawn upon the need to protect land against erosion, in Feijoal local community in Fogo Island. The Community has become extremely vulnerable to mudslides after heavy rains; consequently farm lands decreases, and livelihood of locals are at risk.
In this sense, the association is promoting the construction of anti-erosion mechanical structures (500m3 of dikes) as a way to prevent not only land degradation, as well as loss of community livelihoods. Fruit trees and endemic plant species will be used as biological measures as well in the fight against erosion.
