The project aims to develop the capacity of 20 farmers and four NGO staff on the healthy agricultural production, keeps up with the conditions and criteria for the requirements of foreign markets through their training, and increase their experience, and quality agricultural production. In addition to that, Access to strawberries certificate Global GAP for a safe agricultural production to contribute to the farmers? improvement of their economic, environmental, social and employment opportunities and promote self-reliance.
One of the main project results is production of 240 tons of high quality crop of strawbarries ?free of pesticide residues?.

Project Characteristics and Results
Policy Impact
The Paris Accords signed by the Palestiain Authority established tax free status for 3,000 tons of exported cash crops in European markets.Previously, the annual exports of Palestinian cash crops including strawberries did not exceed 500 tons since 2006. There is an ongoing need to increase the quantity of agricultural exports to Europe and take advantage of this agreement which the project helped to fulufill. The project is also in line with the important goals of the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture of optimizing the use of water and improving food safety.
Project sustainability
The sustainability of the project was ensured through the provision of the GLOBALG.A.P. certificate, which allow the farmer access to international markets as long as there is demand for the product. the project also developed local expertise in sustainable agricultural system mangament that will remain the farming community
