Developing the Basis for Turkey's First Wildlife Ecological Corridor
Developing the Basis for Turkey's First Wildlife Ecological Corridor
Sarikamis ? Allahuekber Mountains National Park is an isolated forest in northeastern Turkey. Due to the wars, over logging and over grazing of young trees in the region, these forests that formerly linked with the northeastern Black Sea forests got fragmented. This project will form the social infrastructure of Turkey?s first wildlife corridor and will help us spread our Sarikamis experience we gained on awareness raising and education of local people to wider areas along the wildlife corridor.

To achieve this outcome we have three goals:
1) To monitor and protect the wild animals, plant groups and natural sites along the corridor and ensure their sustainability.
2) To raise the awareness of local people and local directors along the corridor route about biodiversity, sustainable forest management and wildlife.
3) To Encourage biocultural tourism by promoting the rich biodiversity of the region and to help local people generate alternative income through community-based biocultural tourism.
