Bitou Wetland Project
Bitou Wetland Project
The broad objective of the Bitou Wetland project is to rehabilitate the Bitou
Wetland and to develop this, without impacting the health of the system, as a world
class wetland and eco-tourism destination. Key to the implementation and
sustainability of this project is the establishment of mutually beneficial
partnerships with funders, local communities, relevant local and international
conservation and authority bodies.
The philosophy behind the partnerships would be the that through benefitting from
the wetland, the ?theoretical? value of the wetland would become a reality to local
communities and that, through the training, education and awareness aspect of the
project, a deeper understanding and appreciation of the wetland habitat is
established to ensure sustainability.
