Forest preservation through land conservation and water-based women Empowerment
GOAL
Forest conservation through soil and water conservation as well as environment preservation that is supported by sustainable community.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Protection of springs around Semoyo villages
Indicators : ? the presence of land use agreement around the springs in the area of Semoyo village
? the presence of common rules regarding land use to preserve the springs
? the presence of community measurements to preserve the springs
Activities :
1. Participatory mapping to determine the springs that need to be protected
2. Workshop of developing land use and governance of springs
3. Constructing rollag and terraces to reduce erosion
4. Constructing infiltration wells around the springs
5. Reforestation to protect the springs
6. Producing organic fertilizers by utilizing leaves, household waste and animal manure
Objective 2 : Strengthening of house hold economy to support the springs preservation
Indicators : ? increasing capacity of production management and marketing by considering the carrying capacity of the environment, social and culture
? the presence of community measurements to process agricultural and forest products
? the presence of collective action to market forest products
Activities
1. Participatory identification of local potential
2. Facilitating the development of community products
3. Training of marketing and development of market network
Objective 3 : Development of micro-finance institutions (forest bank)
Indicators : ? family savings are ensured
? funding network for community economic activities are established
Activities :
1. Participatory identification of local finance institutions
2. Facilitating the development of financial institutions. The facilitations are in form of group meetings, capital facilitations and developing rules as well as strengthening the management
3. Training of financial institutions development
The training that will be carried out is administration training of microfinance institutions
4. Facilitating the administration and management of microfinance institutions
One of the weaknesses of microfinance institutions is the lacking of committee?s skill in term of administration. In several cases, this often affect to lacking of trust from members to the committees. The training is expected to tackle this issue.
5. Meeting of microfinance institutions
The meeting is aimed to evaluate microfinance institutions. The meetings are held once in every 3 months

3. Increasing skills of production management and marketing by considering the carrying capacity of the environment and social and culture
4. Community business group to process agricultural and forest products
