Specific Project Outcomes:
? 6,000 seedlings are planted on 6-7 ha of the riparian woodlands territory;
? 204 tons of CO2 are processed annually;
? River banks are reinforced to prevent water erosion;
? Logging of the riparian woodlands is reduced by 70%;
? Group of community-based forest management composed of the local population is established;
? 100 local residents that participated in the planting of seedlings are provided with fuel and annually receive fire wood for heating during the fall-winter period;
? Fauna populations are protected;
? Outlet canal 1,500 m long is cleaned of silt;
? Juvenile fish can enter flow waters of the Kayrakkum water reservoir;
? Over 3,500,000 juvenile fish annually replenish the Kayrakkum water reservoir?s fish stock;
? Over 1,000 representatives of the local population participated in the development of the Local Environmental Action Plan of Kanibadam Rayon;
? The Local Environmental Action Plan of Kanibadam Rayon is approved by local deputies and authorities for implementation;
? Measures on monitoring and evaluation under the developed plan are undertaken;
? 5 public consultations involving local residents are organized and conducted;
? Over 550 local residents are provided with information and participated in the development of the Local Environmental Action Plan of Kanibadam Rayon;
? A decision on organization of community-based forest management is made in follow up of the public consultations;
? Over 1,200,000 potential TV viewers are informed of riparian woodlands saving, biodiversity conservation, environmental management and climate change adaptation measures;
? 300 copies of video materials are prepared and disseminated among the organizations and residents of Sughd oblast;
? Response Team composed of 8 members of the Hunting and Fishing Society is established;
? The team is trained in necessary skills on fire response and fighting and protection of the riparian woodlands;
? The team is actively involved in conservation and development of the riparian woodlands, in accordance with the Programme for Protection of the Riparian Woodlands of Kanibadam Rayon;
? Potential incendiary crimes are reduced by 90%;
? Capacity of the Rapid Response Team of the Hunting and Fishing Society to detect and put out islands of forest fires is enhanced;
? Costs of fire mitigation and illegal logging are reduced;
? Green Patrol Group composed of 30 schoolchildren from Khamroboev jamoat, Kanibadam rayon, is established.
? 30 Green Patrols will be assigned to the Kanibadam Hunting and Fishing Society as assistant volunteers.
Knowledge Management:
The organization has a robust system of information sharing and dissemination. The organization has its web-site and data portal pages where organization?s activities are highlighted. Every month, our organization?s information is used by over 1,000 users. Target groups have skills to prepare and share information materials through Internet, printed publications, video materials and presentation meetings.
The project implementation progress is continuously reported through the Sughd oblast TV broadcast, Compass printed publication and video materials, daily update of the organization?s newsfeed in the Internet and weekly mail-outs to partner organizations.
All those interested can learn about organization?s experience in the introduction of community-based forest management, environmental management, flora and fauna biodiversity through Mass Media, printed publications, organization?s website, during meetings with the public and on project sites.
Project Performance Indicators: ? 2 ha are used under a demonstration plot for the introduction of community-based forest management;
? Riparian woodlands, on the area of 11,000 ha, are recovered annually;
? Kanibadam rayon?s riparian woodlands, on the area of 11,000 ha, are better protected and conserved;
? Over 3,500,000 juvenile fish are saved annually and replenish Kayrakkum water reservoir?s fish stock;
? 204 tons of CO2 are processed annually;
? Over 120 local residents are involved in the introduction of community-based forest management;
? Conditions for fish, bird and animal populations are created;
? Over 10,000 seedlings are planted on the riparian woodlands area;
? 2 ha of degraded lands are recovered;
? Over 700 residents participated in the development of the Kanibadam Local Environmental Action Plan;
? In total, at least 1,000 community members are involved, including 486 men, 514 women, 90 children, and 22 community elders.
