Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
YGPE PO has sufficient experience in implementing projects and securing their sustainability. As stated above, our organization is working under 3 programmes, and is a longstanding partner of public and state organizations and communities. Under the implementation of this Project, our organization?s strategic objective is to protect and conserve biodiversity of Kanibadam rayon?s flora and fauna of strategic significance for the whole oblast. Local people?s participation, through their own contributions, and alternative solutions of daily living and social concerns will ensure project?s sustainability and communities? interest in development of the activities being implemented. Owing to the recovered riparian woodlands and conditions created for bird and animal populations (Syrdarya pheasant, several species of falcon, white heron, black and white stork, Falco cherrug coatsi D?m., and tit), the population will have a constantly reproducing woodland, and bird populations will reduce the number of pests, and thus having a positive impact on people?s income. Implementation of a mitigation project will allow saving and conserving over 3,500,000 juvenile fish per year, with the economic benefits hard to be calculated because of the high number. This activity will both improve flora and fauna biodiversity and enhance living standards of the population of Sughd oblast. Environmental management and conservation of the riparian woodlands will be ensured through public information and provision of alternative solutions. The rayon administration will adopt the developed programme that addresses population?s opinion, and thereafter funds will be allocated for its implementation. After the project implementation, activities will be undertaken to provide consultative support to the population; and changes and implementation of the adopted Local Environmental Action Plan of Kanibadam Rayon will be tracked. Risk management mechanism will also facilitate timely response to risks threatening the Project?s results. It is to be stressed that trust partner relations established with target groups for many years of work and support of state institutions and partners will also secure Project?s sustainability and successful implementation.
