Bohol Marine Triangle Mangrove And Seagrass Ecosystems Diversity Enhancement Project
Bohol Marine Triangle Mangrove And Seagrass Ecosystems Diversity Enhancement Project
This proposed project is an action to the BMT Plan which was an output of the previous project. In the mangrove ecosystem, only a biophysical assessment was done. After the BMT project, the sustaining mechanism of BMT project which is PADAYON BMT Management Council, sits in the protected area management board (PAMB) that governs the mangrove ecosystem in the BMT area. This proposed project will be able to support the attainment of the PAMB conservation objectives.

General Objective:
To restore the coastal and marine ecosystem in the Bohol Marine Triangle area for sustained biodiversity of resources, shoreline protection, and productivity of nearby coastal waters. It is also to serve as a complementary action of the National Greening Program of the country, in the growing tourism development and mitigation on the impact of climate change.

Specific Objectives:
(1) reforest the degraded mangrove forest for the protection of fish, shellfish, mollusks, crustaceans and endemic shorebirds? habitat;
(2) provide supply of seedlings for replanting in 6 barangays within the Panglao Island Protected Seascape and in proposed forestlands;
(3) strengthen community-based forest protection and management within the Panglao Island Protected Seascape, in the proposed forestland, and in beach areas in cooperation with business/resort owners; (4)identify and facilitate sustainable livelihood activities for communities to reduce extraction/destruction of forest resources.
