Suporting Plant Biodiversity Conservation in Bigadic via Natural Beekeeping
Balikesir Bigadic region is notable for its plant diversity. The NGO, also a former SGP Grantee, with this new project aims to identify and conserve the naturally existing wild plants in the region with the help of Balikesir University. The projects conservation studies will mainly focus on the identification of the plant species which are favoured by the local varieties of bees and to involve the local people into conservation activities by helping them do beekeeping in a near organic method, thus conserving both the local bee varieties and the plant biodiversity and generating income for the locals.
