«Future for Rhodopean agriculture now» is a project creating environment for establishing of a beautiful natural farm which will serve as a model for the local communities in Rhodope Mountain and a spring for a new kind of education close to earth. We want to achieve sustainable development in harmony with the people and the nature as well as create stable grounds for future prosperity of the people living in the mountain.
Our main goal is to contribute in long-term to the reduction of soil degradation in the Rhodope by introducing and actively popularizing organic farming. In such way we will address the problems of soil fertility and, on the other side; we will demonstrate models of sustainable organic farming, development and production. While improving soil conditions we will also build capacities for development in the local communities.
Our work on «Future for Rhodopean agriculture now» is focused in three main directions: creating and working in a practical educational organic farm; building of a resource centre and active engagement of local communities at all project stages to multiply our example. We want to foster long-term sustainable development of the region by creating local resource centre in community centre?s building and by developing value-added organic products.
We will improve communal participation in longterm land management by actively spreading sustainable agricultural practices. We will focus our efforts on local people of the upper Arda river. We will reach wide audience and results dissemination in whole Bulgaria by ensuring involvement of community centers through Agora Platform, Network for Sustainable Exchange «Alive places» and youth centres.
We hope that the resource centre together with the farm will really change the way of thinking and develop the skills of the people we will work with from Rhodope Mountain, Bulgaria and Balkans.
