Upscaling Community-Based Forest Honey Initiatives in Indonesia
GGOAL
The strengthened Indonesian Forest Honey Network can increase the capacity of forest-honey farmers? organization, improve quality of forest honey, and achieve fair marketing for forest protection and community welfare.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Strengthening the forest honey farmers organization in Ujung Kulon NP, West Java, Indonesia so that they can produce forest honey that fulfill the quality standard and increase opportunity of forest honey business that support the conservation of Ujung Kulon National Park as well as community welfare
Indicator : 1. 50% of forest honey farmers in Banten join the forest honey group association and 80% of forest honey farmers implement the sustainable harvesting technique, hygienic post-harvesting procession, and understand the internal controlling system
2. Increasing income from forest-honey trading of 30% from the production and increasing price
3. Existing forest house for product display and as a place to produce high quality and fulfilling the high standard forest honey.
4. Existing report on monitoring and evaluation as well as strategic planning for post-project activities
5. Existing documentation of all activities
Activities : 1. Backstopping and Training
Backstopping and training from JMHI will involve ?pool of trainers? that consist of the most experience forest honey farmers & representatives from marketing division from Dian Niaga
2. Honey House
In order to support the conservation of Ujung Kulon NP as agreed in the signed MoU between the TNUK and the forest honey farmers in Banten, West Java, then support from the farmers group from each areas will be needed to improve the community welfare.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation
EXPECTED OUTPUT
1. The forest honey farmers know and implement the sustainable harvesting technique, hygienic post-harvesting procession, and understand the internal controlling system to ensure the quality so that in accordance with JMHI product standard.
2. Existing business location for forest honey in Banten and also the production room that equipped with proper tools to support the production of high quality forest honey
3. Increasing income for forest honey farmers from their business and support the TNUK especially the forests as the main source of forest honey

Direct : Forest honey farmers group and the facilitating group in Banten (consist of 32 households of forest honey couple), Secretariat of Indonesian Forest Honey Network, Dian Niaga Jakarta, and Indoneisa Organic Alliance
