Medicinal Plants Diversification among Sandalwood Plants in Community-based Forest in Wonogiri
GOAL
The economical condition of community is improved through cultivation of medicinal plants and sandalwood and its post-harvest processing.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Increasing function and role of community-based organization in managing local natural resources
Indicator : Five groups in each village are actively participated and involved in the local natural resources management. Each consists of 20 people where 60% of them are women.
Activities : 1. Training on participatory planning.
2. Establishing the groups.
3. Facilitating the groups and individuals involved.
4. Training on management and group administration.
5. Establishing network between groups.
6. Evaluation and planning
Objective 2 : Increasing community?s capacity in optimizing local resources
Indicator : 1. The existence of at least 500 m2 of land Demoplot groups to plant nurseries Ginger,and Patchouli Kunir.
2. Implantation of medicinal plants in the form of land Demoplot: Ginger as much as 1,500 pounds, about 1,500 Kg Kunir and Nilam approximately 9,500 rods to meet the needs of medicinal plant seeds for approximately 240 people are members of the group. And embedded in fields of standing crops Demoplot include: Sandalwood as many as 1,000 of 1,000 chocolate bars and rods
3. Availability of seeds of medicinal plants for approximately 240 people are members of the Class
4. Members of the group by about 240 people were able to develop / grow herbs and sandalwood area of 12 ha
Activities : 1. Medicinal plant cultivation training (empon-empon) With the material; land preparation, cultivation, fertilization, seed selection, seed cutting, planting, watering and fertilizing the plants.
2. Land preparation in each group in the 3 villages of seedlings to be planted herbs, patchouli and sandalwood.
3. Cultivation of medicinal plants, brown patchouli and Sandalwood are held simultaneously in three villages (Pingkuk, Pesido and Cangkring).
4. Business or entrepreneurial motivation training with the assigned material.
5. Marketing Management Training that emphasizes how the packing, calculate the sales price, promotion, expand, create networks, to keep subscribers, manage, plan marketing, consumer behavior and material relevant to marketing.
6. Assistance, for every goal in mentoring program was conducted as described in objective 1 no 3.
7. Monitoring activity is carried out periodically to see the extent of achievement of each goal the development of activities
Objective 3 : Increasing alternative livelihoods for the farmers by developing medicinal plants and sandalwood cultivation
Indicator : 80% of the group?s members have three new livelihoods
Activities : 1. Training on household level economy management
2. Facilitating promotion and marketing
3. Training on post-harvest production
4. Assistance for revolving credit
5. Community facilitation
6. Evaluation and planning
Objective 4 : Increasing number of plants cultivated by community
Indicator : Members of the group by about 240 people were able to develop / grow plants Oboth - drugs (Ginger, and Patchouli Kunir) under the standing crop plants sandalwood / brown area of 12 ha. outlined in Goal 1 no 3.
Activities : 1. Supporting the farmers with medicinal plant seeds, patchouli, and sandalwood
2. Producing leaflets
3. Facilitating community with production tools
4. Community facilitation
5. Evaluation and planning
EXPECTED OUTPUT
1. Community groups are functioned as learning facilities, problem solving, and social communication for its members especially related with economy, social, and other issues.
2. New opportunity for group?s members for self-development through training, group network development, and social services provision.
3. Increasing community capacity in developing land for productive plants
4. Increasing the capacity for members to voice out opinion and to analyze the economical, social, and any burning issues
5. Increasing new business based on local natural resources
6. Existing community awareness to maximize their lands to productive plants
7. Developing biodiversity or increasing the quality of the land.

Direct : 15 groups with members less than 300 people or head of household
Indirect : Community in three villages or groups, traders, producers, and local government involved in the projects.
