Savings Detectives
The general purpose of the project is growing energy efficiency and by this way reducing both CO2 emission and invoice costs at the socio-economically disadvantaged rural area of Ankara, which is Mamak.
Project?s strategy is to direct people towards energy efficiency is studying with mothers and their children with an hands on education program. Participants are going to learn about generating electricity and alternative energy sources, generate electrical energy, learn about areas that they can grow energy efficiency, explore applications that uses electricity and reduce their waste by studying on a simulator and wary of wasting energy while exercising daily life works within the context of the project.
Program is planned as during the life of the program participants are going to take along the subjects to their home and daily life and both participants and their friends and families awareness on energy efficiency is going to increase by this way.
It is planned to study with 100 women and 600 children through the 5-month project. Project will be finalized with a party that participants are going to take gifts like saving bulb etc. if they can prove that invoice costs are reduced after they care about energy efficiency. We think participants? motivation to get a gift will push family to wary of wasting energy and once they see the difference at the invoice costs, then sustainability of energy efficiency and dissemination will be guaranteed.
Expected concrete outcomes of the project are;
? Reduce at the invoce costs per year per household at 400 household
? awareness about energy efficiency at 1200 individuals
? at least 192 tonnes reduce at the CO2 emission which is going to be determined by using last year?s electricity and heating bills with respect to up-to-date emission factors.
Results of the studies will be assessed by implementing questionarries and materials for measuring attitudes before and at the end of training program. There will be one more monitoring activity which will be done one year after the Project as interviews at the participants house. Monitoring will focus on both attitudes and bills of last year?s info.
As this is going to be a Project both for children and for mothers on energy efficiency, our positive discussions with the all parties, agency determining policies on energy efficiency, education center for kids and a big institution for financial support, shows us that this project?s main aim is to disseminate project to whole country. And by decreasing primary energy demand at the level of 10% accross the country, saving 10 billions TL and decreasing 10% of expected CO2 emission per individual, ie 10% of 4,8 tonnes, in the next ten year.
