Sustainable Jobs for Coastal Communities in Toledo
: To create sustainable livelihoods in Toledo for fishing families.
Specific Objectives:
? To empower 15 micro-entrepreneurs
? To create 15 sustainable non-marine resource businesses in Toledo
By project end, at least 15 members of fishing families will have the capacity to operate micro-enterprises. The businesses will increase household income by 33%. Although fishers will be unable to stop fishing altogether over the course of the project, the additional source of income provides an alternative to fishing, especially during times of financial stress, school fees for example. A small business could take in more work or stay open later to spare the fisher from making an extra trip to sea.
