COMMUNITY BASED NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL REHABILITATION AND DESERTIFICATION CONTROL FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD AND REDUCED VULNERABILITY FOR VULNERABLE RURAL WOMEN OF PETAUKE DISTRICT.
The Petauke District Land Alliance (PDLA) is registered as a Not-for-profit, non-partisan, Non-Governmental Organization under Society?s Act. The Alliance is domiciled in Petauke District of Eastern Province of Zambia.
Vision: ?A Petauke District in which the poor and the under privileged are knowledgeable and have secure access to, ownership of and control over land within an effective, efficient, transparent, equitable and accessible land administration system.?
Mission: The PDLA is a network of NGOs, FBOs and CBOs whose mission is to promote just land laws and policies through awareness, sensitization, capacity building, lobby and advocacy.?
Purpose and core activities
To support community based Natural Resources Management through environmental Rehabilitation and desertification control for sustainable livelihood and reduced vulnerability for rural women of Petauke District by 2013. Core activities include, community awareness on land related issues, capacity building for communities to undertake advocacy work, advocate for pro-poor land policies
2. Project?s main objective
2.1 To support community based Natural Resources Management through environmental Rehabilitation and desertification control for sustainable livelihood and reduced vulnerability for rural men and women of Petauke District by 2013
3. Specific Objectives
3.1 To achieve household food security for 1,740 women through adoption of conservation farming in Petauke District by 2014.
3.2 To support environmentally friendly income generating activities in ten groups through demonstrations and information dissemination for improved livelihoods
3.4 To build capacity among the 20 women clubs in new farming technologies through training in seed propagation, compost making and nursery construction by 2014
3.5 To build and capacitate villagers to work and participate in Community Based Forest and Land use Management in Petauke Districts by 2014
3.6 To build capacity for PDLA to undertake the initiative
