BIODIVERSITY AND DEMONSTRATION PROJECT ON POVERTY REDUCTION
Relief and Development Department within the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) was established in 2000. The organization is based in Lundazi district, Eastern province of Zambia. Lundazi is 800km from Lusaka the capital city of Zambia, 178km from Chipata the provincial capital.

Relief and Development was established to do holistic ministry to alleviate poverty and provide sustainable living of the local communities.
Currently the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Synod of Zambia (CCAP), is the Church that supports Relief and Development Department, financially and materially.
Relief and Development Department is operating in the Eastern province of Zambia and runs the following: 7 Community Schools,12 Adult Literacy Education centers, 20 Community Based Agriculture centres, 5 Home Based Care Centres, 11 Orphan and Vulnerable Children centres.

CCAP Relief and Development has empowered the communities emotionally, spiritually, physically and economically. In terms of vulnerability, CCAP Relief and Development support more than 700 people living with HIV/AIDS. The Organization has 800 registered OVCs and 7 community schools with 734 registered pupils; it has also recruited 10,000 youths with the ABY program. In addition, the Organization has over 340 learners in adult literacy education. In Agriculture most farmers have been helped with the new methods of farming hence there is food security in some places than before. We are working with more than 600 farmers in the Lundazi District.

The Relief and Development Department has the following:
Staffs have long experience as they have been with the organization since inception and have implemented programmes/projects successfully. The current staff level is six that is three men and three women. The organization have also volunteers workers being 11 in OVC, 30 in HBC, 8 in BCC, 20 in Agriculture total of 69

2. Project?s main objective
2.1 To reduce poverty levels and increase the sources of income and improve the livelihood of the targeted 600 people.

3. Specific Objectives
3.1 To provide start-up capital to the 20 community groups for sustainable income generating activities in fish farming, animal husbandry and crop husbandry to the 600 farmers, thereby the economic status will change for the better as they will have direct source of income for the households.
3.2 To increase the capacity in farming technologies (crop rotation, fish farming, conservation farming, composite making and animal husbandry) of 600 farmers of Lundazi district in the 20 community groups as they will be able to diversify their farming activities
