Environmental Rehabilitation Project.
Action for Positive Change is a non partisan Community Based Organization (CBO) which started carrying out its activities in Chipata District in 2002 and finally got registered with the Registrar of Societies of the Republic of Zambia on 4th May, 2005 under Registration Certificate number ORS/102/16/602.

Action for Positive Change?s purpose is to uplift the livelihoods and living standards of the rural poor in Chipata District especially women and the children. This is done through various interventions such as education on sustainable agriculture for food security, improved woodlots through promotion of tree planting, behaviour change in regards to HIV/AIDS prevention, orphan care and support, policy advocacy and gender equity.

Their achievements in the area of environment include:
? Good agricultural and/or crop marketing policy advocacy
? Education on sustainable agriculture and,
? Agro-forestry.

In its structure, the organization has both the Board and members of staff. The work of the Board is to provide the organization oversight and employs key personnel for the organization such as the Programmes Manager.
Action for Positive Change is not a membership organization as it works with all the vulnerable members of the community through various interventions. However, the members of staff provide day to day work at the organization office and also conduct the field work with the help of locally trained volunteers such as Behaviour Change Communicators, Peer Educators and Community Action Groups.

The organization Board comprises of seven (7) members with different academic backgrounds and experiences and cuts across all the sectors that the organization is involved in. This gives the organization a comparative advantage in undertaking its activities as it has board members that provide technical advice in all the sectors.

The organization has a total workforce of five (5) full time members of staff that are on salary. The members of staff carry out day to day duties at the organization office and also conduct field work in collaboration with members of the community within Chipata District.
