Construction of Eco-compound Mulberry Garden in Longgu Village in Guizhou Province
Main Problems:
1.negative impact to locals life due to land degradation and environment worsening at project site; need scientific and feasible method to improve the situation?
2.the physiognomy of project site is steep with severe water loss and soil erosion; landslides risk is high;
3.40% of land is deserted at project site; the rest is grown paddy and corn; family income mainly comes from exporting labour; project site is featured poverty as whole?
4.agricultural level of science and technology is low, land productivity is low;
5.Since the migrant worker population of youth and male adults are increasing, only elders, women and childern are staying at this village, they have nothing to do.
Project activities/solution:
1.agro-forestry (mulberry planting, ecological chicken raising, inter-planting crops)
2. participatory theory and practise training for prevention of land degradation (twice)
3.promotion of technology of ecological integrated silkworm and mulberry efficient circulating model
Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. two ha. of demonstration site of ecological cycling mulberry garden established?
2. training material 'construction of ecological integrated silkworm and mulberry effecient circulating modle at mountainous land degradation areas' composed?
3. ten local government officials and 150 villagers tained and their awarness of sustainable development enhanced through two participatory theory and practise training workshops; ?
4. sum up an agricultural ecosystem management mechanism which fits with local farmers' capacity building and promote it with the support from local government.
