In Cacheu National Park, some fishermen still use prohibited fishing nets, damaging the sustainability of the stock of some fish species. This project aims to help the fishermen to exchange their fishing nets, for others more expensive, although not harmful.

Project sustainability
After 9 months of the beginning of the project, the Association had already acquired with own money 15% of new fishing nets acquired by the project. It is expected that this will continue to grow to prevent the re-use of the prohibited fishing nets .
Policy Influence
After beginning the project the association has helped the park rangers in the river Cacheu monitoring in order to end the use of fishing nets with mesh lower than 35mm. Currently the fishermen who still use prohibited fishing nets is much lower.
