The aim of the project was to increase the number of rural people practicing beekeeping as a means of income generation, provide skills and knowledge of beekeeping to increase efficiency and lower costs,increase the volume of production of honey products, improve the quality of bee products, to obtain better and reliable returns for producers and to conserve biodiversity.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Beekeeping can be a profitable income generation activity in rural areas. By using scientific and environmentally friendly technologies, livelihoods can be improved and sustained at the same tie.
Gender Focus
The project specifically targeted women and trained women groups on how to make high quality, value added products of candle, body cream and soap from honey wax. The sales of these products are now a source of income for these women.
