Strengthening Community Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change (SCACTC)
Project is aiming to reduce vulnerability and increase adaptive capacity to climate change ,including drought, in 2 communes (O common and Ream commune )consist of four village namely Ream ,Smach Deng ,Thmar Thom and Ong Knong/Krav. The project will be cover 1986 community households of four village for its implementation .Because these villages are more vulnerable than other villages, by rehabilitation of the water dam in both communes will have increased water levels that will be present year round, meaning the lake, water channels and tributaries will be able to become stronger ecosystems resilient to climate change .with more water .notably. fishes will be able to breed more and have a more sustainable environment for their young which will also support the people on the area with a with a more reliable food source at the same time. Through increased water supplies to rice paddies , community sustainability will also be increased. The paddies ecosystem will be healthier and thus will be able to produce 2 harvests per year , Doubling the yield for families. Project also support the community to plant the trees around the community which will help to strengthen the environment, for example holding together the soil which can be prone to erosion during prevalent drought periods, and make it less susceptible to climate change condition. Through the education provided by this project to the WUC?s, the successful management of the water local environment will ensure they continues to become more resilient and have the ability to adapt to future condition .The project will build the community capacity in sustainable vegetable growing and integrated faming techniques by providing training with the CEDAC. This will help to increasing the yield diversify crops. And also have less of an impact the surrounding environment enabling it to cope better with the increased pressures of climate change. They will also receive coaching on growing sustainable home gardens and fish rising. The project will than also identify existing or setup new self Help groups (SHG) who will setup a seed bank and be able to identify markets for selling local produce and work together to sell the produce as a community group, helping them to get a better price.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
The communities are required to spend time to engage in the project implementation through various aspects, including implementation of project activity (trees planting), attending meeting or workshop for sharing information, monitoring (Dam and pond rehabilitation), attending skill training (integrated farming, adaptation to climate change?etc), partnering with project activity (resource contribution), cooperation and so on. With leadership provided, the communities will own and run the project by themselves once the project is closed out. Then, this is the project led, owned and managed by the communities to meet the purpose of sustainability.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The project will provide target populations the understanding of environmental awareness, basic concept of the climate change and adaptive capacity to climate change through various trainings, project interventions and project implementation in relation to integrated farming activities, irrigation system improvement, minimizing the impact of climate change, protection of natural resources in communities, resource mobilization, community organizing, community engagement in planning and implementing the project, and sustainable use of local resources.
SCO- Cambodia will coach the WUAC to meet with community members regularly to provide information and gain insights into problems or concerns. WUAC members will then be coached to raise issues from the community to the Commune Council level, through the monthly public commune meeting.
