The Project aims at introducing energy saving measures, popularization of energy saving among local people in remote areas as well as raising awareness in Zhytomyr region on CC issues.
The current old and out of date street lightening system in the villages of Zhytomyr region is energy un efficient, resource consuming and expensive for local people. Energy saving measures and street lightening will have not only global environmental benefits. Replacement of old street lightening will help to reduce burden on the local budgets and use the savings for social and economic development of the villages.
NGO ?Prosvita? will use best European practice and best SGP practice in the similar projects in small towns and villages. One of the major outcomes will be raising awareness of local people and authorities to energy efficiency, introducing energy efficiency in the local development plans and strategies, community mobilization to ?green growth?.
Major Project?s activities are:

1. Replacement of around 12 km street lightening in village Borshchiv, Zhytomyr region.
2. Replacement of bulbs for energy efficient in selected public buildings of Zhytomyr region.
3. Organizing training and workshop on simple energy efficiency measure and ecological benefits for community members.
4. Holding wide informational campaign and social advertizing on ecological benefits of this and similar projects.
5. Monitoring and research on local energy consumption and ecological benefits.

One of the major important aspects of the Project will be community mobilization and practical participation in creating energy efficient street lightening in the places of their living.
A wide partnership has been built already during the project development. NGO ?Prosvita? together with the local activists mobilized to joint work local communal service enterprise, Borshchiv village council, Radomyshl town council, private community individuals, NGOs. It is foreseen that not less than 11 000 people will benefit from the project.
In case of a successful project it is foreseen to expand the energy efficiency component in the local strategies and social development plans of Zhitomyr villages and small towns by the authorities.
