Educational Project for schoolchildren and students
The project aims to demonstrate that local initiatives that promote community based approach to sustainable use of their natural resources should be a part of the everyday life. The introduced climate change adaptation measure in the village Bugryn can be integrated in the community?s strategies. Most community members do not have clear understanding that climate change is caused by pollution and deforestation. It is vividly seen from the questionnaire distributed by the NGO ?Karas? during the meeting. Even more, the surrounding nature places are covered with plastic, folia, and other stuff from human activities and resting. Besides, deforestation is really a danger in these areas, mostly due to human activities. As the village is not far from protected territories, the CBO initiated a wide range of measures to raise the level of education of local people.
Deforestation accounts for between 12 and 15 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. By giving Bugryn community the incentive to stop deforestation, the project will help to both sequester carbon gasses through avoided deforestation and to mitigate the emission of the gasses that lead to global warming. At the same time, it will contribute to conserving biodiversity and helping to provide economic and social benefits in these areas. It will be the first initiative educative initiative for the community organized by the members of the community. Informative materials on climate change issues and promotion sustainable energy and transport within a contest organized in the protected area. The main influence on people will be done through their childres, schoolchildren and youth. They will mobilize their parents.
