Production of alternative fuel (wooden pallets) and raising local people awareness
Production of alternative fuel (wooden pallets) and raising local people awareness
The present project raises awareness about the benefits of alternative fuels and attract investment to build the SME for pellets production.
Pellets are environmentally and economically beneficial alternative fuel type. Introducing the alternative energy practices and improvement of public awareness about this type of alternative fuel will reduce pressure on natural resources as well as contribute to problem solving of CC. These pellets will be produced from waste wood, straw and other agro resources that are far poorly involved in the energy sector in Ukraine.

Today the decrease of natural resources, makes the world and Ukraine use alternative fuels to reduce emissions in the environment and reduce the burden on the environment in general. The territory of Polissya that is rich in forests and farming (full of different type of waste) is very favourable for demonstration of pellets production. Forest industry in the manufacture of furniture, building materials and other products form an enormous amount of waste: sawdust, scraps, flitch and other debris. All this leads to the huge amount of waste. These wastes can be processed in a special type of fuel. A very important advantage of using wood pellets is that they do not pollute the environment. In modern conditions the wood pellets is one of the most environmentally friendly type of fuel. The use of forestry residues, which currently are not normally used as feedstock for the production of pellets, will enable to replace significant amounts of natural gas used in the region.
In addition, pellets are environmentally neutral on CO2 emission sources of renewable energy, burning them does not result in the allocation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and therefore do not contribute to greenhouse effect.
Taking into consideration Ukraine's own energy resources, use of non-liquid timber and wood is one of the most affordable, economical and promising alternative energy sources, particularly for the rural population and enterprises engaged in harvesting and processing wood.
The development of alternative energy, including waste wood, partially relieves the region of existential dependence on mineral resources that are purchased. This project will create new local jobs.

One of the ambitious Project?s objectives is promotion alternative energy sources and motivate local governments to encourage and support entrepreneurs who produce products with advanced technology and alternative energy sources. So, new policy instruments to be introduced on the local level. It will be the first step towards improving energy efficiency in the region, helping develop innovative solutions and new technologies for saving energy and optimizing its use by the local people.
The NGO and Myn'kivtsi volunteers will help both to local authorities and communities to raise awareness about alternative energy fuels, establish local partnerships and implement innovative solutions in the process of further work in this area. The SME development is foreseen as one of the Project?s results. These activities will enable business development and entrepreneurship; investment will flow into the region. Promoting the use of advanced energy saving technologies will expand awareness of environmental and economic effectiveness of such technologies to all segments of the population.
