Recycling of garbage and waste for biogas capture and utilization to produce electric energy
The project will promote the use of biogas technology to help provide low- cost energy from agricultural waste material in Lugansk region, through know-how dissemination and knowledge transfer to farmers in selected communities (Dolzhansk and Sverdlov) promoting their high potential for biogas production. The project is based on the results of the successful research of Ukrainian scientists and engineers, which have developed useful materials and information for farmers about the potential of their agricultural wastes and different crops to produce biogas. These results will be used by the NGO ?Public alliance for open society? and Project stakeholders, composed of a group of key partners of the Project and interested farmers from the two target communities: Dolzhansk and Sverdlov. Using the existing infrastructure and training facilities of the NGO ?Public alliance for open society?, training and dissemination activities will be performed in local farms in order to promote local production of biogas from agricultural wastes. Since this can be done both in small agricultural units and in centralized co-digestion units, the Project will also promote the formation of biogas energy clusters among farmers. The results will be further disseminated in districts with similar characteristics and conditions:
? Increased awareness amongst local community about biogas potential and the opportunities its applications offer them in the energy sector.
? Transfer of the relevant information derived from the European research initiatives of essential knowledge to local farmers and most important key actors in the target regions on order to promote the biogas production to the local farmers.
? Strengthening of the existing biogas dissemination and training infrastructures.
? Installation of the biogas energy generator in the kindergarten supported by the local volunteers, parents committee, local government and private sector.
