Aofaga Project for Protection Against Negative Climate Impact
To implement a program of integrated actions for the enhancement of the natural resources and livelihoods sensitive to climate change in Aufaga village.
The project involves personnel from the UNDP and the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme Community Based Adapptation staff, officials from the Government of Samoa's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the people of Aofaga village and a loval consultant managing funds includig project staff to carry out activities designed to make the village environment resilient to driven changes as opposed to baseline changes from climate, enabling the village to protect their livelihood. The activites involved the planting of trees in the up-steam area, the river banks and in the coastal area to stop soil erosion, excessive silts and run-offs to the river that empty into the lagoon.
