Utilization of Nypa Palm As A Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in Upenekang, Ibeno Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State
The objectives of this project are to cultivate the habit for utilizing nypa palm through the use of techniques required to extract useful resources such as sugar, ethanol, mats, etc. The degradation of the environment through oil exploration and unavailability of cooking fuel have resulted in exploitation of the mangroves by the community for firewood, even to the point of ?desecrating? the wild life sanctuary in the area. Nypa palm is an invasive plant which has increased in multiplication and the indigenes do not know its use.
