The project complements the activities of project ROM/SGP/OP4/Y3/RAF/09/09 from core funds. It aims to teach and demonstrate how to reduce GHG effects by building and using solar panels in the communities of Sovata, Sighisoara and Gheorgheni. The project will set up additional solar systems in Sovata and Gheorgheni, facilitate operation of the existing ones, will raise awareness on climate change issues and promote alternative energy sources by practical activities in schools in the target communities, and will reduce transport-generated GHG emissions by compensatory planting of trees and bushes. The communities? knowledge on how to improve the efficiency of heating energy consumption will be improved by training administrators of blocks of flats on such issues.
