Participatory Planning for Medicinal Plants Diversification among Sandalwood Plants in Community-based Forest in Pingkuk, Pesido, and Cangkringan Villages, Jatiroto Sub-District, Wonogiri District, Central Java
GOAL
Participatory planning and developing alternative livelihood for Cangkring, Pesido and Pengkuk villagers by medical plants cultivation and post-harvest processing phase in the Sandalwood plantation area.

OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Establishing community-based forest management group to maximize function and role of community institutions in managing local resources.
Indicators : 5 groups in each village that consists of 20 members, inclusive of 60% women members, are functioning
Activities : 1. Establishing community group
This group will take the role as learning media for community in overcoming issues that they are facing.

2. Mentoring individual or groups
This activity is done to discuss occurring issues and deals with community agenda.
Objective 2 : Existing participatory plan with local community to explore the economic, social, and cultural potency as well as the utilization of local resources such as medicinal plants (ginger, turmeric, and sand ginger) among the community-based forest.
Indicators : Existing comprehensive proposal generated in accordance with the criteria for GEF SGP Indonesia as a result of an agreement between the local community and Kospin Permata
Activities : 1. Participatory planning
Participating in the participatory workshop held by GEF SGP Secretariat to develop community planning that focused on the potential, resources, needs, and current issues based on the actual condition in the community.
Objective 3 : Establishing sustainable business planning for post-harvest medical plants processing
Indicators : Participatory business analysis
Activities : Conduct market analysis, developing local resources, and analyzing behaviour of involved parties.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS:
1. Establishing group of community-base forest management with local resources management capacity in Cangkring, Pesido and Pengkuk Villages, Jatiroto Sub-District, Wonogiri District.
2. Participatory planning for the utilization of vacant land among Sandalwood plants by Kospin Permata and local community in Cangkring, Pesido and Pengkuk Villages, Jatiroto Sub-District, Wonogiri District.
3. Business plan for medical plants post-harvest processing as alternative economic resources for sustainable activities and analyzing behaviour of involved parties.

Direct : 15 groups with approximately 300 members of Cangkring, Pesido and Pingkuk villagers, Jatiroto Sub-District, Wonogiri District.
Indirect : 3 neighboring villages, traders, and local government
