Reducing Land Degradation and Improving Land Use in the Belize River Valley by Promoting Good Land
Management and Livestock Production Practices
PLANNING GRANT:
1) USES:
? To conduct consultations with cooperative members and supporting government agencies to plan and develop the information and input for preparing the project proposal.
? To hire a resource person to facilitate the planning meetings, take notes and write the project proposal for submission to GEF SGP for consideration.
? To cover logistical costs including food, communications and transportation expenses related to project preparation.
2) PROPOSED PLANNING ACTIVITIES: Activities will be carried out by the managing committee and members of the cooperative, along with the facilitator (proposal writer).
? Hold three monthly cooperative planning meetings with members. Technical staff from the Cooperatives Department and the Agriculture Department will attend. Full participation of members is expected as transportation arrangements will be covered. The proposal writer will facilitate these meetings and take notes.
? The Resource person will prepare the proposal in the required format utilizing the information gathered at the consultative meetings.
? The draft proposal will be reviewed at the last planning meeting and finalized for submission to GEF SGP.
