Empowering Indigenous Women to Take Part in Local, Sustainable Biodiversity Management
The propose grant will enable the Toledo Maya Women?s Council (TMWC) in partnership with Rio Blanco Women?s group to develop and design a Capacity Building project focused on strengthening indigenous women?s leadership capacity with greater participation of women, youth and families from 2 adjacent communities ( Santa Elena and Santa Cruz)buffering the Rio Blanco National Park.
The purpose of the planning grant will enable TMWC and RBWG to develop a project targeting 3 main areas aimed at building indigenous women leadership.

? Environmental Education ? Indigenous women and youth promote sustainable biodiversity management of Rio Blanco National Park.


? Promote Livelihood Alternatives for RBWG and improve marketing and tourism.


? Capacity Building- To empower indigenous women through mentoring and confidence building.
