School in Nature proposes to develop a dynamic and participatory environmental education program, focusing on conservation of marine turtles and its habitats, in Boavista Island, Cape Verde. The main The objective of the project is to enhance the medium and long term change of attitudes about hunting and consumption of these animals protected by law in the country.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Capacities of 8 and 30 armed forces soldiers youth were strengthened in turtle nests monitoring. An environmental project proposal draft training workshop for 8 community members of Bofareira, Estancia de Baixo, Povoação Velha, and Sal Rei were operationalized.
Notable Community Participation
Five marine turtle camps with kids - 3 nighs and 2 days each in Boa Esperança Beach were held, totaling 80 kids. Beach cleaning activities were also completed, turtle releases and film sessions where held Sal Rei city main square. Turtle nesting beach patrols (10 including school kids) were also organized with kids and with support of the Armed Forces
